Our team brings over 20 years of combined firefighting experience across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. Every member of our crew holds current NWCG qualifications and maintains the highest standards of physical fitness and operational readiness.

Nick Whipple
Founder & CEO
Nick Whipple brings well over a decade of frontline wildland firefighting experience to Ponderosa Fire LLC. A current A-10 Thunderbolt II pilot in the Air National Guard, Nick has spent his career operating at the intersection of military precision and wildland fire operations. His years of service span federal, state, and local fire assignments across the United States — from initial attack on fast-moving wildfires to complex extended-attack incidents alongside interagency teams. Nick founded Ponderosa Fire with a clear mission: to build a company that holds itself to the same uncompromising standards he learned in the cockpit and on the fireline. That means disciplined crews, meticulously maintained equipment, and a zero-compromise approach to safety on every deployment. Based in Boise, Idaho with his wife and two children, Nick is deeply rooted in the community and the fire landscape that Ponderosa Fire serves.
